Bad "feature" = bug : Kenmore 12-cup Coffee Maker

Bought this at Sears for $30. Took it home, read manual, am returning. This was being bought for an elderly lady who would (100% chance) call us about the "Freshness Alert" beeps at least every other day. Possibly every time (every 15 minutes!) it went off.

If it was being bought for us, I might, maybe, on a nice day, have tried it out to see just how bad the beeps were. I probably would return it anyhow.

Hint to designers, of any product, make it so the customer can turn off and/or adjust your "bugs" aka "features". This coffee pot has lots of buttons and a LCD display, making a setting for beeps (or volume) along with all the other choices would have been pretty trivial.

I do wonder if Cuisinart did this as sabotage so you would buy their look-a-like, rather than the Kenmore. The reviews of it don't mention over beeping.

Wastes Coffee Beans - 60% increase in Bean Consumption : Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/Black

We are very happy with this coffee maker. The things that are not good are that the thermal carafe pours out a very weird thin stream of coffee which takes to long to fill a cup and it is awkward to comepletly emtpy it. It does leave some grindings on the lid but that is not a total problem. The coffee is not as hot because it goes into the cool carafe and that cools it down.
So the point of a thermal carafe is now a drawback. I like my coffee hot so its a draw back for me. Other than that it all works well, stays clean, you do not have to clean the abrasive compartment eveyr time you use it. The compartment does not get any steam it in it like the former one did. We bought ours from Williams Sononma and are trying it out. I think we will keep it but we are still not 100% sure. It makes a good cup of coffee and the abrasive works great and the extra beans it holds is a big plus.

A dream come true! : Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System, Black/Stainless

This motor was to make both the coffee hound and the tea lover in our family happy in the morning. Only one of us is happy.. No complaints at all with the coffee maker..
The hot water dispenser has a strong bad taste that I cant get rid of with repeated vinegar or the 1 cup of lemon juice recommend by the customer service representative.. She had heard my story many times before..
The taste is similar to drinking out of a organery hose. The customer rep assured me that the insides are stainless steel and not plastic. I think there may be some potential operate issues...
Even if I could get the bad taste out, the dispenser will only release 16 oz of water for the 32 oz you must put into it. This leaves 16 oz to sit until the next day to be reheated when you add 16 oz of new water.
You must always put in 32 oz to get out 16 oz. If you put in any whole less than 32 oz, the "add water" light will come on after only 6 oz drawn out..The motor will not let you take more than this out--even notion there is abundance more inside of it.
Consequently the new water put in always mixes with the old water that is both stale and bad tasting. Who wants day old water that has the taste diminished additional by reheating?
I see this as a big establish flaw that requires you to take the entire motor to the sink, pull the very ergonomically incorrect and difficult plug out of the bottom and manually drain it... The manual tells you to do this if the water has been in the dispenser a week or more...
There always will be water in the dispenser a week or more.. Yuck..
I say back to the drawing board with this item..
Not what I startling from Cuisinart...
