Capresso 565 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel

Capresso 565 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel OverviewsFor grinding larger quantities of coffee beans for a coffee-drinking crowd, Capresso's commercial-grade Infinity grinder handles 8-1/2 ounces of beans at a time. Sixteen different settings--four each in the four categories of extra fine, fine, regular, and coarse--let you adjust the grind to the specific blend of coffee and method of brewing. The finest setting is ideal for preparing Turkish coffee, which is a rare feature to find in a grinder. A built-in timer sets the grind for anywhere between 5 and 60 seconds so you can walk away without having to constantly press a button to continue the grinding process. The Infinity has an advanced conical burr design made of steel that is usually only found on commercial grinders. This burr design slows down the gears and reduces the amount of friction and heat to preserve coffee's flavor and aroma. The coffee container holds up to 4 ounces of grounds and remains sealed during grinding. For safety, the bean container also needs to be locked into place for the Infinity to operate. Also, for easy cleaning, the bean container and upper burr lift off so you can clean the grinding chamber with the included brush and wipe down the and heavy-duty zinc die-cast housing with Stainless Steel finish..../ Capresso 565 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel / coffee grinder

Customer Review :

Best grinder in its price range : Capresso 565 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel
A typical consumer cannot distinguish the quality of grinders by looking at the outside casing or looking at the manufacturer's name. The truth is, the quality of the grinder is almost entirely determined by the quality of its interior burr set. [Other factors are the motor and the gear set.] The Capresso Infinity happens to be built using the best burr set of any grinder under $100: they are even capable of producing a fine espresso grind, though not as well as grinders starting in the $200 range, like the Gaggia MDF. The only other grinder under $150 which is typically compared to the Infinity in coffee magazines is the Solis Maestro, but the latter is certainly no better, and has a reputation for unreliability. Similarly, the chrome model of the Infinity is only cosmetically different -- and so not nearly the same value.

I'm sorry one of the customers got a defective machine, but this is a great grinder, and the black model (signicantly cheaper than the chrome model) is probably the best value in coffee grinders out there. It will handle everything from fine grinding to coarse with the simple turn of the dial, and you can expect the burrs to stay sharp significantly longer than your other models in this category.

At the same time, it will not do long term for an espresso hobbyist. I own two Infinity's, and I have used each with two Gaggias, a Delonghi, and an ECM Giotto espresso machine. They worked adequately for espresso for a little less than a year, but then, even on finest setting, were woefully insufficient. That's why people spend $200-$400 on espresso grinders: you simply need burrs that will not dull, and mechanical tolerances that are so tight that no loosening happens. So I still recommend a Gaggia MDF for anyone actually making espresso: it will last many years, not less than one, and it will give you over a dozen espresso settings, not two.

Customer Review :

Not fine sufficient for Espresso : DeLonghi Stainless Steel Burr Coffee Grinder with Grind Selector and Quantity Control
I understanding burr grinders were supposed to be great so I purchased my DeLonghi burr grinder. I purchased it from a separate vendor; I don't know why. The first polisher lasted a dinky over one month. The dial on the front where you specify how many cups of coffee you are grist stopped working. The polisher would run until it ran out of beans. At that point, I already hated the polisher because even when you premium tasteless grind, you got mostly very fine grind coffee. For this I need a burr grinder? How can I make my coffee press?

DeLonghi substituted the polisher because of the run-on problem. Well the new polisher turns off when it should But It Still Cannot Properly Grind Coffee. I agree tasteless And At Least 1/3 Of What I Get Has Been Ground To Dust. I wish I had ordered this from Amazon so I could send it back.
